Three years in the studio, not the lecture hall. Learn to record, mix, master and design sound on the tools the industry actually runs on — Ableton Live, Pro Tools, FL Studio and Logic Pro.
Sound process engineering is the craft behind everything you hear on a record, a film or a stream — capturing it, balancing it, shaping it, and finishing it so it holds up on every system it lands on.
The degree covers that whole chain: recording a live performance, balancing and correcting it, layering effects and reinforcement, and mastering the result. You will work across music, film and television, web series, animation, podcasts and games — because in practice a working engineer moves between all of them.
IIFA teaches this as a studio subject. The syllabus is built around practical training, so that when something goes wrong in a session — and it will — you can hear what is wrong and fix it, rather than recognise it from a textbook.
Every skill is taught in a graded sequence — mixing runs across four semesters, music production across three — and the final semester ends on a placement with a working studio.
Five digital audio workstations, not one — because studios in Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore do not agree on which to use, and you should be employable in all of them.

Demand for sound professionals keeps rising as more content is made for streaming, gaming and live events — and every one of them needs someone who can make it sound right.
Earnings. In India a sound engineer’s salary starts from around ₹6 lakh per annum and rises with experience and the studio you work for. In the United States, sound engineering technicians earned a median of $53,520 in 2020, with the top quarter above $77,410.
